Inciting violence is not free speech; it is a dangerous abuse of freedom that threatens the safety and well-being of individuals and society. While freedom of speech is a fundamental right within the Bill of Rights, it is not absolute. For instance we are prohibited from yelling "Fire" in a crowded movie theather.
Free Speach must be balanced with the responsibility to avoid harm. Inciting violence undermines the civility, respect, and tolerance principles essential for a healthy democracy. It can lead to physical harm, social unrest, and the erosion of trust in institutions. Promoting peaceful dialogue and constructive engagement is essential for fostering understanding and resolving conflicts in a diverse and pluralistic society.
Leaders who devolve into violent rhetoric should lose our support since their leadership is contrary to our nation's civil harmony and tranquility. It's really that simple. Please don't vote for or support anyone who consistently stokes the flames of division and, through their speech, incites their followers to violence against their appointments.
If you like their policies, find someone else who embraces them and withdraw your support from the candidate or official inciting violence through their speech. Make it clear you will support them again, but only when they stop this anti-American behavior. Then perhaps you can get the policies you want without the violent rhetoric. Still, it won't happen if we continue to tolerate it.
We will all be better off for it.
