About Us

We think of ourselves as political philosophers, innovators, and thought provokers dedicated to promoting our country's core ideals, the Constitution it is based upon, and the rule of law.

In the world's leading democracy, the people's representatives enact the laws of the land, and good citizenship establishes the norms of civil society to willingly abide by those laws based upon faith in the justice system and the principle that no one is above the law.

Taking a sober view of our country, many representatives fail us by not enacting our will. In a country of, by, and for the people, it is essential that they do so. Otherwise, it is a dysfunctional representative democracy. 

Much of the turmoil of the day can be traced to this. After all, a supermajority of Americans agree on the most divisive issues of our time. We know this since polling shows us that most people want reasonable laws concerning:

Immigration

Abortion

Gun Control

Environmental

Healthcare

Labor 

Yet, reasonable laws addressing these issues still need to be made. Why?

For many of our politicians, stoking the flames of division so that they may retain their grip on power is more important than serving the people's will. Creating division, cynicism, and dysfunction serves their purposes, and the political theater that goes along with the effort is more entertaining than the hard work of governance. 

So Essential Citizenware was born in the hopes of helping to restore faith in our democracy and purpose for the American people in protecting it and realizing their essential role in doing so.
